"As a child, lying in the back seat of my family's car as we drove by night, I would watch the illusion of the Moon flying along behind the telegraph poles, the wires, and the trees. Because of my perspective, it seemed as if the Moon was the fastest flying object that I had ever seen in my life. The image was so powerful, and I had spent so long looking at it from inside the car, that lying in bed, my eyes closed, I could still see it speeding across the sky. Even now, decades later, I am surprised as I look at the night sky that the Moon is so still.

"The Western astrological system is based upon the issuing of light or rays by each planet. It turned the night into day and emitted into the atmosphere so much light pollution that the visibility of night sky is noticeable diminished, even in remote areas. It lasts on average 29 days, 12 hours, 44½ minutes, a unit of time called the synodic month or lunar month, which because the Sun is also moving in direct motion through the tropical zodiac takes over two days longer than the sidereal month, which is the measure of the time the Moon takes to orbit the earth.
